Ray Scott and myself at Harvest Harvest Cafe Midland, TX. I am hoping to run a video of his testimony if it will take on this blog. He was saved in the 70's while in the Marine Corp and at 60 years of age still loves God and serves Him. He attends Midcities Community Church and works in the children's department. He loves to hunt and is married and loves his wife.

It was cold but joyful. Sorry for the blur but something went wrong with camera; still you will see that God is working in the youth of community, the future leaders of America.

Nathan Chapman Testimony

This is my first video on sharing the Gospel of Christ and I am happy that my son Nathan was so kind to share. We were at the Harley Davidson Shop in Midland/Odessa.

We had a good time at the cook off and there was plenty to eat. Hot, mild, spicy, not so spicy; it is fun to get together and share life.
Walking into the fire station. It was nice of these people to provide this space for the City of Midland and Bob and I enjoyed the chili we had. You can see her walking to the back of the station.
Midland Central Fire Department downtown Midland, TX. Bob and I are stopping by for a chili cook off of Midland, TX.
New battery in camera and did not set the date,so the correct date is November 7, 2012 and this was taken at City Hall in Midland, TX. Just bought some Cracker Jacks, love these things. Liked them as a kid and still like 55 years later.

This is the inside of our church. You can see the stage and we have traditional seating. People asked, "
What do you believe". Wow, so as not to be long writing, I will attempt to answer briefly. We are a group of people that have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as the Son of God, very man and very God, Three in One. His birth, death and resurrection and ascended into heaven and now seats on the right hand of God. He has kept His promise and sent the Holy Spirit to those that believe in Him. We believe in the resurrection and that we now live in the New Covenant, His Blood that was shed for us for the remission of sins. We are "Set Free" to live this life as he commands in his Word. Be in the world but not of it. Could write more but then it would be a book.
Just a word about my church. I attend Midcities Community Church on 191 in Midland County. This is the front of our Church. I believe we have about 3000 members and have three services. The people are great. These are our greeters who help people at the curbside.
I always wear a Hi-Viz jacket. This one is from Olympia and I have enjoyed wearing it, though in 100+ degree weather it is uncomfortable. I believe do to the type of material. It holds in the heat when stopped and becomes hot. Once moving it is fine.
My favorite place to go and study. Starbucks, it serves good coffee and only cost about $1.68 a cup. That is about what you pay for any other place in Midland, TX.
This wonderful Mexican place is located in Midland, TX by Midland College. I went here to meet many friends from the Juvenile Probation Department for a going away lunch for friend.
A friend of mine, Billy, ordered the "green chili" burger. Looks good. He said it was good.
I ordered the old fashion burger and it was good. Fries came out golden brown. It is hard to locate restaurants that serve home fries. Most are frozen and then deep fried. I guess it is a money thing; but for store frozen they were okay.

Enjoying the fruit of my labor, you know you have to work to have money to buy these things. The cost was over $10.00 which included the tip and I drank only water. Gone are the days of a $00.35 burger. Only in our memories, however it was good.

My last week with the County of Midland and then retiring. I will miss some of  the work and mostly the people I worked with. We get old and time to move on. That is life and that is a wise thing to do. Goodbye Midland County and hello retirement.

Grandson posing

My grandson, who loves scooters and also loves grandpa. This is my newest bike a Burgman 400 2003 model.

Some of the bikes at church. Mine is the gray scooter, Suzuki Bergman. Riding to church is a good time to relax and think about what God is doing in my life and the churches life. Good place to ride to and meet friends.
The thing I like about riding to church on Sunday morning is the people you meet who also ride.
It is great to have fellowship with others who ride and Love the Lord, Jesus Christ, Son of God.
Daniel is one of those men and he is a member of CMA, Christian Motorcycle Association.

While at MidCities Community Church this morning I had an epiphany, a sudden revelation or realization of an essential truth or reality, that eating Great Hamburger's every is not the best thing for me, so I have decided to branch out and try other things. Today, a sandwich at the Smiling Moose Deli. Bob is on a diet and so I want to take her to a place where she could also eat and stay healthy.

The sign for the Moose in Midland, TX.

Join us as we enter this delightful restaurant in Midland TX. Love the picture of the Moose.

The menu is on the wall and this is a place that is clean, fresh, and delightful to have a sandwich.

Bob will choose a half turkey sandwich and salad. That is her looking at the menu.

You can see the choices that people have. The vegetables are fresh and it amazes me the things that come out of the ground and the variety.

Another view of the salad bar.

This is the Italiano  that I got. Price will be $6.69. Remember on Friday I got a Great Burger for $3.25.
This is sandwich is great. Hot and all those vegies on it.

Bob got the Turkey and Salad which she enjoyed.

After the blessing of the food, well, time to eat and enjoy.

I decided to look at the menu closer, something about eyesight and distance and small print do not work out well.
I ordered the Regular which is the six inch and is $6.69, I guess that is not bad. I got the HOT ITALINAO and you can see what comes on it.Boy it is that good.

I have made it to Tanks in Midland, TX located at Scharbauer and Barber. This place is the gem that you are looking for. The out of the way old fashion greasy spoon place of your youth. The way Burgers used to be made, one at a time with lots of love and grease.Buns soaked in Butter on the grill and the burger grilled just right to get that crisp edge and taste.

It is carry out and a very small courtyard with two chairs which on this cloudy day suited me well. You
may notice that there are is paved parking lot and for a scooter dude you always hope for no rain. Of course it has not rained in Midland for months.

You know anytime you see a BBQ Pit next to the building that good things are in store for you.

Me as I am ready to try my last place for this week. I have heard about this from my co-workers at Juvenile but never ordered. Oralia San Miguel, I have arrived. And yes, it was that good.
You can see the menu. Imagine that a burger that you will see costing only $3.25 plus tax. Yup, no $7.00 or $9.00 burger here. It will not break the bank.

Why take a picture of a paper bag? Easy, notice the grease that is oozing out from the burger that is wrapped. People, this is the real deal. Remember back n the 50's and 60's and family trips and sometimes dad would stop at a truck stop for a grease burger. You never had one but the day you did your mouth fell in love with the taste. The joy and excitement of flavor that swelled in hour mouth. Not until 50 years later have you found a place like that but today, in Midland, TX. History comes to live. Stop by and check this place out.

The anticipation is heightened as I take this master piece from the womb of good old fashion paper bag, no styrofoam here for a burger.

I have a strong or intense feeling about hamburgers. They are like apply pie and homemade ice-cream. They are American and every culture likes them. There is an enthusiasm that brings out the warmth of good times and memories, eating with family and friends.

This burger is a GREAT BURGER, yes, it is that good, maybe it was the sitting outside smelling the BBQ pit meat cook, the distinctive character or mood of the atmosphere or as some would say the ambiance, well put that all together and you get a delighted time of flashbacks and good eating.

Time to enjoy this GREAT BURGER.

This is the owner and operator "Tank". I told him I would meet with him again when he was not so busy. He cooks, takes the orders and always has a smile. Tank is retired from the City of Midland and had a dream to open a BBQ & Burger stand. He started in 2005. Tank also does BBQ and loves cooking.  I will see him again when I do my blog on Great BBQ in West Texas.

The outside porch, I am glad it was cloudy and cool today in West Texas. It made being outside fun.

A view from the front of Tanks.
