While at MidCities Community Church this morning I had an epiphany, a sudden revelation or realization of an essential truth or reality, that eating Great Hamburger's every is not the best thing for me, so I have decided to branch out and try other things. Today, a sandwich at the Smiling Moose Deli. Bob is on a diet and so I want to take her to a place where she could also eat and stay healthy.
The sign for the Moose in Midland, TX.
Join us as we enter this delightful restaurant in Midland TX. Love the picture of the Moose.
The menu is on the wall and this is a place that is clean, fresh, and delightful to have a sandwich.
Bob will choose a half turkey sandwich and salad. That is her looking at the menu.
You can see the choices that people have. The vegetables are fresh and it amazes me the things that come out of the ground and the variety.
Another view of the salad bar.
This is the Italiano that I got. Price will be $6.69. Remember on Friday I got a Great Burger for $3.25.
This is sandwich is great. Hot and all those vegies on it.
Bob got the Turkey and Salad which she enjoyed.
After the blessing of the food, well, time to eat and enjoy.
I decided to look at the menu closer, something about eyesight and distance and small print do not work out well.
I ordered the Regular which is the six inch and is $6.69, I guess that is not bad. I got the HOT ITALINAO and you can see what comes on it.Boy it is that good.

I have made it to Tanks in Midland, TX located at Scharbauer and Barber. This place is the gem that you are looking for. The out of the way old fashion greasy spoon place of your youth. The way Burgers used to be made, one at a time with lots of love and grease.Buns soaked in Butter on the grill and the burger grilled just right to get that crisp edge and taste.
You know anytime you see a BBQ Pit next to the building that good things are in store for you.
Me as I am ready to try my last place for this week. I have heard about this from my co-workers at Juvenile but never ordered. Oralia San Miguel, I have arrived. And yes, it was that good.
You can see the menu. Imagine that a burger that you will see costing only $3.25 plus tax. Yup, no $7.00 or $9.00 burger here. It will not break the bank.
Why take a picture of a paper bag? Easy, notice the grease that is oozing out from the burger that is wrapped. People, this is the real deal. Remember back n the 50's and 60's and family trips and sometimes dad would stop at a truck stop for a grease burger. You never had one but the day you did your mouth fell in love with the taste. The joy and excitement of flavor that swelled in hour mouth. Not until 50 years later have you found a place like that but today, in Midland, TX. History comes to live. Stop by and check this place out.
The anticipation is heightened as I take this master piece from the womb of good old fashion paper bag, no styrofoam here for a burger.
I have a strong or intense feeling about hamburgers. They are like apply pie and homemade ice-cream. They are American and every culture likes them. There is an enthusiasm that brings out the warmth of good times and memories, eating with family and friends.
This burger is a GREAT BURGER, yes, it is that good, maybe it was the sitting outside smelling the BBQ pit meat cook, the distinctive character or mood of the atmosphere or as some would say the ambiance, well put that all together and you get a delighted time of flashbacks and good eating.
Time to enjoy this GREAT BURGER.
The outside porch, I am glad it was cloudy and cool today in West Texas. It made being outside fun.
A view from the front of Tanks.
It is carry out and a very small courtyard with two chairs which on this cloudy day suited me well. You
may notice that there are is paved parking lot and for a scooter dude you always hope for no rain. Of course it has not rained in Midland for months.

Time to enjoy this GREAT BURGER.
This is the owner and operator "Tank". I told him I would meet with him again when he was not so busy. He cooks, takes the orders and always has a smile. Tank is retired from the City of Midland and had a dream to open a BBQ & Burger stand. He started in 2005. Tank also does BBQ and loves cooking. I will see him again when I do my blog on Great BBQ in West Texas.

Today was "Tanks" sorry Oralia but did not make it. My friend and wife, Bob, is on a diet and I am proud of her so I took her to this place so she could get a good salad. You can see the nice scooter parked in front of the Baron.
As the sign states Cattle Baron, I've never had a burger here so this will be my first and I am in for a big surprise. This is Wadley Street that runs in front of Cattle Baron. Looks like any town in America to me.
As you enter the front doors you can see the decor is nice. This place is a restaurant and not a fast food place. Expect to wait for your meal.
You can see the number of people eating salad and I was not one of them. My next journey will be finding the healthy foods to eat and places that serve them. Already this place is Great for the Salads. But I am looking for a burger. Will they have one?
The entrance meets you with a large area and high ceiling. Nice place to enjoy a good meal.
You can see the prices of the burgers. Gone are the days for a burger under $5.00 but today I will order the Mushroom Swiss Burger and it comes with fries. Oh Boy.
This is how it was served. Boy that looks good. Notice the fries, uhmm, and veggies. Kind of like eating a salad and meet too
Love this picture. Now that is how a burger should look. The meat is char-cooked and the meat was fresh, not to greasy, big, this thing is big, you can spilt it however Bob is on a diet and so I had to eat the whole thing. Tender, no grizzle bits and very very good. Well worth the money.
This is a meal to be enjoyed with people you love. Eating by yourself is okay. Yeah, I love food, but I love to share it more with people I love and Bob was with me and we had a wonderful time. I never would have come to this place for a burger if not for her. Thanks Bob. You're looking good.
This is how a burger should look. I was very surprised when I put this together. Something out of a magazine. I did not think the burger was going to be this good but it was.
Well, I will and did enjoy this meal. It is worth carrying your family for a burger and it is big so you can spilt it with your friend unless he is under 60 and then he will want the whole thing. Youth, big dreams, big muscles and big appetites.
This is the salad bar that my wife, Bob, partook of. This restaurant has a good menu and well worth visiting at lunch. To high prices for dinner. But we are in the oilfield and the place is full, however; those on SSI visit at lunch and you will not cry to much.
The Quest for the Great Hamburger continues. Today's odyssey took me to Michaels in Midland, TX on A Street and Wadley.
They serve more than just burgers and all the food I have eaten here over the years has been good.
As you enter the restaurant you will notice that you are in the clouds, that is clouds painted on the wall. Very refreshing.
A big sign greets you as you read check in. You place your order and they will chargrill it to the way you would like.
The salad bar is big and much to choose from.
You will see planes every where. On the wall.
Planes suspended from the ceiling.
More planes suspended from the ceiling.
Also you notice that this place is roomy and many people can eat at once. No long lines and every day this place is busy.
My burger is ready and you see the nice grill marks. The aroma is wonderful and the meat covers the bun. I believe this burger alone was about $6.20 plus tax of $0.51 still under $7.00. Remember, no drink, just water and no fries. Still worth getting.
You can add what you like from the bar and I do. I like it all.
You can see I am ready to woof this thing done. It was very very good.
The grill where they do the cooking. You can see the flames in the background.
Michaels a place to vist and take the whole family.
